WVNCC celebrates Women's History Month

Posted 03/10/20

This event has been cancelled.

West Virginia Northern Community College (WVNCC) will  host a special presentation from Dr. Emily Krichbaum, founder of the nonprofit, Remember The Ladies, in honor of Women’s History Month. The presentation will take place at 11:30 a.m. on March 23 at the college’s Weirton Campus, March 24 at the New Martinsville Campus and March 25 at the Wheeling Campus. Each event, which is open to the public, is free and includes lunch, but anyone interested in attending must register in advance.

Krichbaum’s presentation will highlight historic female figures and stories of female trailblazers. She established “Remember The Ladies” to help schools provide more representative and inclusive histories to young girls and women. Krichbaum is a historian specializing in American women and earned her Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University, where she studied modern American social movements and received the Jane and Cecil Lyman Prize for Best Ph.D. Dissertation. Dr. Krichbaum spent the first ten years of her academic career teaching undergraduate and graduate-level courses at Ashland University and received Outstanding Female Faculty Member of the Year award in 2014 as well as the Mentor of the Year award in 2012, 2015, and 2017.

Anyone interested in attending must RSVP to Sara Wood at 304-214-8917 or swood@wvncc.edu no later than March 19.
