West Virginia Northern Community College (WVNCC) will offer drone pilot and FAA test prep classes for the first time ever on its Wheeling and New Martinsville Campuses. Interested students will get to learn the basics of flying a drone and will also receive a Syma X5 Series drone.

A 3-week class will be offered on the New Martinsville Campus on June 19. A 10-week course will be offered on the WVNCC Wheeling Campus on June 20 or August 5. During the class students will learn how to fly a drone without GPS, how they function, a review of FAA rules and applications of drones. Class will initially take place indoors using an obstacle course and will eventually move outdoors learning to navigate wind and weather.

The cost of the class is $799 and anyone interested in registering can sign up at https://wvncc.coursestorm.com/category/drone-courses.
