West Virginia Northern Community College (WVNCC) will hold its 50th Annual Commencement Ceremony on May 13, 2022, at 7 p.m. at WesBanco Arena. Two hundred and sixty-six students are eligible to receive two hundred and ninety-one certificates and degrees during the ceremony.

Kyle JohnstonKyle Johnston, a Petroleum Technology student, is the 2022 Class Valedictorian.

Dr. Sarah Armstrong Tucker, the Chancellor of the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission and of the Community and Technical College System, will deliver the commencement address. Tucker is the first person to simultaneously hold these two roles – and the first woman to serve as CTCS Chancellor – that guide and oversee policies and initiatives for two-year community and technical colleges and four-year higher education institutions. Prior to becoming Chancellor, Dr. Tucker served as Director of Planning & Research for WV Higher Education.

Dr. TuckerDr. Tucker completed her doctorate studies at the School of Education at the University of Michigan in 2010.  She earned a B.A. in Psychology from Harvard University and a M.A. in Quantitative Research Methodology from the University of Michigan.

During the ceremony, WVNCC President, Dr. Daniel Mosser, will welcome the graduating class and serve as the Master of Ceremonies. Local musician, Mitch Spurlock, will perform musical selections.
