Welcome to West Virginia Northern Community College! Deciding where to continue your education is an important commitment, and we are honored that you have chosen Northern.

For more than fifty years, Northern has helped students build brighter futures throughout the Upper Ohio Valley by providing a quality, affordable education that is aligned with the needs of our communities and employers. Northern offers a wide variety of degree, certificate, and training programs designed to help you find the right fit for your goals and your future.

What makes Northern truly unique is its people. Our faculty and staff want you to succeed, and we are here to support you through your college experience. College can come with difficulties along the way, and it is important to know that you have an entire campus community willing and eager to help. Whether you need assistance in the classroom, guidance with a challenge, or simply someone to point you in the right direction, there are people at Northern ready to support you.

We also understand that your education has to fit into your life. This is why we offer programs at our Wheeling, Weirton, and New Martinsville campuses, as well as flexible distance learning and continuing education options, including some in the evenings. We work hard to ensure that the communities we serve have broad access to affordable, high-quality education and training.

I encourage you to take the time to get to know the many people you will meet during your time at Northern - get to know your professors, connect with your fellow students, be open to learning, try something new, and never be afraid to ask for help. Your college experience is about more than earning a degree or credential; it is also an opportunity to build a network and learn from those around you.

Above all else, believe in yourself. You do not have to know every detail on your first day of college. What matters is that you approach this experience with determination, remain open to new opportunities, and know that you have a community of people in your corner.
