Articulation Agreements

WV Northern Community College has transfer articulation agreements with the schools listed to the left.  These agreements provide a ''value-added" component to a traditional transfer program by allowing additional credit transfers, direct admission, etc based on the agreement and the program.

The purpose of the following articulation agreements is to assist Northern students who are interested in transferring to local colleges and universities after completing academic programs at Northern. WVNCC currently has formalized agreements with Bethany College, Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, Franciscan University of Steubenville, Marshall University, Salem University, University of Charleston, West Liberty University, West Virginia University, West Virginia Wesleyan College, Wheeling UniversityWestern Governors University, and WV State University. Northern is continuously adding transfer agreements for graduates, so students are advised to meet with their advisor or the transfer counselor to learn more.

These agreements facilitate the transfer of academically qualified students; and, therefore, help Northern graduates gain junior admittance status at four-year institutions. Students are encouraged to work with the transfer counselor at both WVNCC and at the anticipated bachelor degree-granting institution so together they can determine which classes are necessary to fulfill graduation requirements.

In addition to the articulation agreements West Virginia has a Core Transfer Agreement with all of the public institutions in the state, follow this link below to the most current agreement of courses which transfer as general education courses, this statewide agreement is updated yearly.

Core Transfer Agreement

WV Northern is additionally part of the WV Reverse Transfer Agreement with West Virginia University (WVU) signed in summer 2018 which will allow students who take classes at WV Northern then transfer to WVU to have their credits sent through this agreement to have their coursework reviewed to award a postsecondary degree.
